Decadent Beadwork and Artisan Jewelry
I’ve been hooked on fashion ever since I was a little girl flipping through the pages of magazines like Vogue and Bazaar, eager to discover what’s new, and loving the glamour of it all. My goal is to design exotic and unusual pieces of jewelry that are something extra special to experience everyday.
I have a deep appreciation for the process of off-loom bead weaving, where beads are added one by one, to reach a three-dimensional whole. Each piece can take hours and even weeks to complete, building layer upon layer. This sometimes means reworking a piece through many refinements, and often leads to strikingly unusual outcomes.
Designing complex pieces from simple sketches is a meditation on geometry; an exercise in esthetics. My inspiration comes from diverse influences from old fabric to Art Nouveau, and from those glimmers of light that appear in my mind at the time between sleeping and wakefulness, and those other moments of subconscious focus.
I favor monochromatic color plays and often incorporate floral motifs, paying special attention to clasps and closures, and elements that create the effect of handmade lace. Working primarily with Japanese seed beads, I incorporate semi-precious stones, found objects, and reused items whenever possible.
I hope you will enjoy and treasure wearing my creations as much as I have enjoyed making them!
