When Brett & Kate first had the idea to start a business focusing on home and office wall decor, the challenge then became picking a name that was creative, unique, and had personal meaning behind it. During the start-up phase of what is known today as 'Howdy Owl', Brett's sister and brother-in-law, Rob, came to visit from out of state. When Rob walked through the door, he gave a big wave and said 'Howdy All'. Right after he said that, Kate & Brett's 2 year old son looked up at them with a perplexed look. Then laughed and blurted out 'Howdy Owl??'. From that point on, it became a bit of an inside joke and greeting phrase used by all... and that is the true definition Howdy Owl!
In the spring of 2015, Brett & Kate started carving art in a two-stall garage of their house in Ashland, NE. The foundation of Howdy Owl was created by making signs and experimenting with a lot of different colors and finishing techniques and over the years perfected our craft to what you see today. Through those processes, our line of Signature Howdy Owl Wall Decor was formed. After 6 months in the garage, we moved to a warehouse in Lincoln, NE.
As time passed, we eventually needed help to create the items you see today. We have had a lot of helping hands over the years, but still here are very passionate people who strive to give our customers quality art and excellent customer service. Chris Jones & Kelly Mackie have been at the shop since the big move in 2017. They saw us from the beginning of our business and have helped us grow over the years. Taylor Ritter, Kendra Ritter, Nate Ferguson, and Jeff Oliver joined us later down the road and have been dedicated to the craft ever since!
Everyone on the team has helped us in our growth along the way - painting, sanding, running machines, marketing, customer service, shipping - anything they could do to help. Over time each person found their strengths throughout the shop and helped build Howdy Owl into the shop it is today. Their passion and creativity have paved the way in making beautiful designs and making sure our customer service is top notch.
