MY STORY
I began sewing at the age of 11. My dad took me to a fabric store, I picked out a pattern for a nightgown and the fabric I wanted. He helped my lay out the pattern and follow the directions and I successfully made my first garment. From that point I was hooked on sewing. I began to make head scarves, head bands, and eventually sewed more clothes. While in high school in upper Michigan, my friend's parents would pay me to make clothes for their daughters. After moving to California at 20 years old, I began a sewing business doing alterations, making custom clothes for clients, sewing for wedding parties, and making Halloween costumes and school mascot costumes.
I then returned to college and took Spanish. I loved learning the language and culture and so I got my degree in Spanish. I began teaching high school Spanish in Thousand Oaks, CA and after 25 years I retired in June, 2023.
During the pandemic, my daughter, who is a nurse, asked me to make her some scrub caps. She loved them and encouraged me to make them to sell on Etsy. This is when my passion for sewing was rekindled. I love to make scrub caps and work with cotton fabric using many different prints in my own scrub cap designs.
