Hi! I'm Lynn! Welcome to "In My Second Life", I take vintage items, mostly jewelry items and reinvent them into beautiful new pieces. I have been sewing and crafting since I was a child and added jewelry making to my pastimes a few years ago. Adding the vintage items to my pieces brought them to a whole new level for me and I thoroughly enjoy making them, each one is a work of art. I started attending craft/vendor events about 2 years ago and have had a very positive response to my jewelry pieces.
Born and raised on the farm, I spent the majority of my childhood at home with my mom; watching her sew for my sister and me, as well as for our home. At about 10 years old, she taught me how to sew and I loved it! I sewed for myself from that point on, I especially enjoyed Home Ec in school with the sewing projects. My grandmother taught me how to crochet as a teenager and in my 20s I got a knitting maching and made wonderful sweater items for me and my family. As you can tell, I never met a craft that I didn't like or want to try. I started making jewelry in about 2005 and found it really enjoyable with lots of options and possibilities. Personally, I have always been drawn to antiques and vintage items, especially rhinestone jewelry. I started acquiring items at garage sales, estate sales, auctions and began to incorporate these items into my jewerly pieces and was thrilled with the outcome of my creations. I really like the idea of reusing treasures from our past.
In 2008, after 29 years, I took early retirement from a public service job and finally had time to do things that I wanted to do, being able to spend more time crafting and gardening. Having made more jewelry pieces than I could ever possibly wear, I decided it was time to start to try to sell some of my pieces if I was going to continue to make more. This is how I got to where I am today. Calling my business "In My Second Life" refers to both the items that I reuse and repurpose into new and fresh pieces as well as to myself and the new route in life that I am taking after ending a lengthy career.
