Native Wildlife and Ecosystem Advocacy
This shop was created in an effort to bring awareness to many of the diverse and native species of America, with a focus on California.
California state is home to a vast variety of ecosystems. Many of them hold creatures known no where else in the world-- and yet many people aren't even aware of their neighbors. Native, endemic, and many endangered species of molluscs, insects, birds and fish and mammals and reptiles--
Every animal I print has been specially chosen as a representation of our vulnerable neighbors. They are all native species. A number of them are only found here in CA. Some of them have very few left in number. Many of them live in our own backyards, often without ever being noticed.
There is no shame in a lack of knowledge, only a lack of willingness to learn. Everyone begins their awareness, and their advocacy, somewhere. The first step can be just to learn that these animals exist-- and that act and joy of learning is the hope I place in my art.
Humans are not invasive species. We are all a part of this world, a part of these ecosystems, and it is our job to protect our community of wildlife.
