Grabbing the Fish
One day I met a fortune teller.
In a world full of digital intoxication, gratification, and entertainment, I missed the dull reality of creating things in the physical world.
Previously, I had casually worked on simple lino cut prints and have sold a few of them at a local coffee shop. Lately, I'd been doing more of this and so I found myself an opportunity to run a booth at a small art market. While there, the fortune teller told me that I was on the cusp of a decision.
She said that my mind was a star-filled pond in which a single koi fish was swimming. Everything was there for me, the pond, the fish, myself. All I needed to do was reach in and grab the fish. The decision was there for me to make, but I was hesitant to reach for it even though I wanted to. She spoke in metaphor, of course.
Since then, I still have been hesitant, but this store is my grabbing that fish, forging a future for myself in which art and creativity is the core.
