Mijn illustraties en lijntekeningen zijn allemaal gebaseerd op geometrische vormen en patronen. Ik kwam deze stijl tegen nadat mijn kat, Floyd, stierf. Uiteindelijk kocht ik een hele doos met stiften en pads lay-outpapier. Van daaruit heb ik geëxperimenteerd met vormen en kleuren.
Afgezien van Sox de kat, is mijn constante metgezel een gigantische tekentafel die een technische vriend me gaf. Met behulp van sjablonen, linialen en Franse rondingen maak ik ontwerpen en illustraties als mijn dagelijkse werk en ik ben er dol op. Elke dag denk ik na over hoe opgelucht ik ben om iets te doen wat ik altijd leuk heb gevonden.
Inkt wordt met de hand gedaan, met illustraties en dubbele uiteinden. Zodra de stukken klaar zijn, scan ik ze en stel ik de lay-out in, voor wenskaarten, kleurboeken, enz ... Ik ben nu ook verantwoordelijk voor al het printen, op verschillende printers hier in de studio.
Het grootste deel van de kunst is met de hand getekend old school, maar Illustrator is een ander creatief hulpmiddel in de studio.
My illustrations and line art are all based on geometric shapes and patterns. I stumbled upon this style after my cat, Floyd, died. I ended up buying a whole case of markers and pads of layout paper. From there, I experimented with shapes and colours.
Aside from Sox the cat, my constant companion is a giant drafting table that an engineering friend gave to me. Using templates, rulers, and French curves, I create designs and illustrations as my day job and I love it. Every day I reflect on how relieved I am to be doing something I've always enjoyed.
Inking is done by hand, with illustration and double ended markers. Once the pieces are completed, I scan them and set the layout, for greeting cards, coloring books, etc ... I'm also responsible for doing all the printing now, on several printers here in the studio.
Most of the art is hand drawn old school, but Illustrator is another creative tool in the studio.
