Following the need to create

Inky Cat Studio is my (Stephanie - hi!) first creative business venture. Before this, I spent a significant number of years in a completely different industry. I thought my career and life was all set and that I would always be chasing a comfortable corporate job one after the other. However, I was forced to rethink my career and future when my husband and I and our two kitties relocated to Singapore in 2014.

Starting from scratch in a new country with minimal networks was a little daunting, so I fell back to what I knew which was an office job. After a while though, the need to create, to make and paint..to explore self expression began to really tug at me. It was a feeling that I recognized was nagging at me from many years before and which I had ignored. Thankfully my sensitivity to my new environment, a lot of introspection and guidance allowed me to better understand what I was feeling. Finally in August of 2015, I happily gave in (hooray!) and Inky Cat Studio was born :D

All my art starts right here in my home studio. I have a lot of interests and this comes out in my illustrations. I like to draw everything from fantastically eccentric animals, geishas, little cat illustrations to human anatomy. Despite the variety of subjects, there is a commonality in my art and that is to go beyond trends and march to its own beat. With every piece, I aspire to create offbeat art and put a smile on people's faces.
