Hi there! I'm Sarah, an acrylic fine artist living in a quiet Minnesota town
Hi, I'm Sarah - owner & artist living in a quiet Minnesota town with my family
I was one of those kids who could always be found surrounded by countless sheets of drawings, pencil led smeared on my hands, paint on my clothes, with mounds of creations I never wanted to get rid of (no matter what). Art class in school was my favorite; whatever came to mind I created. Crafting, drawing, painting - basically anything that allowed me to be creative. My mom was a big influence on my creativity. She was always creating some amazing craft and of course I wanted to help. Then she taught me to sew and I created a whole bunch of fun things - It was all so exciting to me! My parents always encouraged me to pursue various art programs and get involved in art fairs and classes.
After graduating high school, I headed off to college to pursue a Graphic Design degree. However, after 2 years, I changed over to an Apparel Design program at UW - Stout and ultimately graduated with my degree in that. Through my college time, I met my husband and we got married. After graduating, I went to work in the Apparel Design field, and soon after, we had our first child. It was then that owning my own creative business really became my #1 goal. After hearing about Etsy from a friend I decided to give it a try. In late 2008 I first opened this Etsy shop creating kids' aprons, a few random original paintings, cards, and a few random crafts. It wasn't until 2011 that I really started to find my niche of creating hand-lettered signs which I continued to do until 2019. I created many handmade signs over those years, but in 2020 I decided to put aside the sign making and pursue more exclusively my fine art. I started my own website in 2020, sarahgohmanart.com, and haven't looked back. Art is an expression of who I am. It is my passion! From that passion comes joy. Much of my inspiration comes from our family travels and the beauty that can be found in everyday life.
My hope is that you will discover beauty and joy through my art.
