I inherited my love for crochet and knitting from my mother. Before my parents were married, my Mother knitted a beautiful grey cabled sweater for my Father. Whenever Dad was really cold from a hard days work, he would pull his sweater on and stoke the fire til it was roaring. He wore that thing til it had holes in it and went stiff from age, I'm talking a good 30 years or more. He probably still has it tucked away somewhere, ready to whip it out when the next winter blast hits. My Dad loved that sweater, and the time and effort Mum put into making the said sweater was a demonstration of her love for him. Perhaps that's why he loved it so much. So from an early age I wanted to make things for the people I loved. So when my first child was born, I instinctively felt compelled to pick up my knitting needles and create something for my little bundle of joy. My enthusiasm was short lived however when all I could find in the way of patterns were things my grandmother would have made! Thus began my love of designing. My first design was a striped hooded sweater for my son. If only I had correctly written down and saved the pattern!
I now work from home designing patterns in Kapiti, a beautiful region of New Zealand known for its award winning cheeses and craft beers! For me, curling up on the couch with a new ball of yarn and an idea is one of life's great pleasures. Sometimes I know exactly what I want to achieve with a design, but then again some of my most popular designs have come about by complete accident! I love the journey crochet and knitting can take you on, and get immense satisfaction from seeing the ones I love wearing what I have made for them. Thank you Mum for teaching me the joy of giving. Thank you for reading my story. I hope you and the ones you love will enjoy my patterns as much as I enjoy making them!

5 out of 5 starsWould make a change to a more finished look on the tongue of the boot. Otherwise, it's a great pattern with easy to follow instructions.
