About Inverted Garden - Jardin Invertido
This shop profiles a wide range of graphic projects ranging from play of word to niche culture references and inspirations. Each design begins by hand until it is digitalized for printing purposes.
The namesake of the store is the biome of the Cerrado in Brazil, which is referred to as an inverted garden, "Jardin Invertido" - the mass of a native tree's roots stretch far beneath the ground to access supplies of water during the dry season, giving this seemingly bare landscape a resilience, flowering in the middle of the driest times of the year.
The original design of the logo of the shop was sold as part of a show which benefited volunteer fire fighter squads in Brazil. It was painted with the ashes collected from damaging fires in Brazilian biomes, and "Air Ink" - an ink made by the think-tank Graviky, which harnesses carbon pollution into a deep black ink.
I am an artist from the United States, working between fine art and design projects. My influences come from the music and cultures of places I have lived, such as New York, and the Bay Area, California, and the Cerrado of Brazil, artists with whom I have closely worked with as student, assistant and comrade.
