Why the Name "Iron Swallow?"
I was recently asked, "where does the name Iron Swallow come from? I mean..your products are all paper based?"
Well, let me tell you.
First of all, what is a swallow? I know what you're thinking, it's a bird. No your wrong. Well actually you aren't but... well... you are in this case. Ok, well yes that is a swallow on my logo, but I'll get to that.
Anyway, a swallow is an ancient weapon used by fishermen in Japan. When fishing in a small paddle boat sometimes alone and often without a weapon the fishermen would get attacked and their catch stolen. The fishermen then began to sharpen their paddles and even began using metal ones.
Therefore a Swallow is a double bladed sword with very wide blades that double as boat paddles. It is a difficult weapon to master due to it's weight, however if properly used it is particularly deadly when one is able to use the momentum of the counter weight to get the blades moving at high velocities.
The name "swallow" is actually not the correct term, I don't know the correct one, however "swallow' is used in the video game Chrono Cross as the main character's weapon. This is one of my favorite video games of all time. Throughout the game you purchase different swallows made of different materials. One of those is Iron.
I heard once that it may have been called a Swallow because as one is using it, it can look similar to a swallow swooping as it flies.
As far as the bird on the logo I just like birds.
