Isn't that Sew Handmade is a collection of unique, one of a kind, copper, brass, and leather jewelry. Ruth believes in breathing new life into old things and therefore, all the leather and some metals have been upcycled. The collection is very boho inspired, incorporating simple shapes, symmetry, sacred geometry, fringe, and interesting metal finishes. Isn’t that Sew began its journey as a lifestyle blog. Blogging was a way for Ruth to connect with friends and family back home. She was born and raised in Chicago but, currently resides in Dallas, Texas where all of her pieces are hand cut, filled, and assembled.

Ruth completed her Bachelors of Fine Arts at Columbia College Chicago in 2011. While attending Columbia, along side of studying fashion, Ruth learned the art of working with base metals as well as traditional jewelry smithing techniques. She quickly fell in love with the process and has continued to create metal jewelry since.

Ruth spent 10 years working as a dental laboratory professional before switching careers in her late twenties. Little did she know that her dental experience would help her tremendously in creating metal jewelry. She quickly realized that many of the tools used in the dental lab were nearly identical to jewelers tools. It was soon obvious that she already possessed the necessary hand skills and knowledge to excel in her new endeavors.

Ruth currently works as an apparel designer for a New Zealand based athletic apparel company, Knockout Sportswear. Knockout specializes in sublimated apparel and she spends her days designing apparel patterns and graphics and her nights dreaming up and creating accessories for her jewelry line, Isn't that Sew Handmade.
