How Issy's Arts Hair Accessories and Card Stands began.
I love beads, charms and being creative. My 3D card stand designs started out with a simple heart. I now have over 150 available, many as a result of custom requests. I have helped many customers with custom 3D card stand requests since 2017, for weddings, parties and corporate events.
I use a mix of hand drawings, graphic and 3D software to make unique stands. It is trial and error, as stands need to be modified, to ensure balance, and that the stand is recognisable as the object it represents. All stands require finishing after printing, just as they need 'tidying' and removal of supports.
I design and print my own stands, therefore time is required. Stands vary from 30 mins to over an hour print time. I use PLA Filament, which I cannot make myself, so use ZIRO filament, which have a lovely range of colours and is reliable. The filament is heated by the printed and melted to form my designs into the stands. This means they are 'lightweight' and not (unless stated otherwise) suitable for cards bigger than a business card.
My creations and 3d printers started taking over the house, and Issy's Arts was born on Etsy. It's what I love doing. I love being contacted by customers looking for something unique and coming up with a design to meet their needs.
I try to keep my costs as low and affordable as possible, and am working towards being as green as possible. As part of that, I have had Solar PV installed so that the running of my machines doesn't impact on the environment. The PLA filament (PLA plastic or polylactic acid is a vegetable-based plastic material, which commonly uses cornstarch as a raw material) I use is is a fully biodegradable thermoplastic polymer consisting of renewable raw materials.
Thank you to all visitors to my little shop, and especially those who love my crafts as much as I do.
