I started the original Istria Design in 2011 on my dining room table. It was focused on vintage style paper goods - such as journals, cards, guest books, and art prints. Throughout the years, that shop became wildly successful, and I found myself working into late hours of the night - designing, printing, cutting, and glueing. While the original Istria Design brought me a lot of joy and a great opportunity to improve my designing and crafting skills, life had different plans. With a growing family, I found myself working long hours and not having enough time for my kids - which resulted in a difficult decision to put my shop on hold in 2018. Years passed, and I pursued other passions while raising the kiddos - but graphic design was still something I had great love for.
Now that the kids are older, my husband and I decided to revive this shop, but with a slightly different focus. We decided to join our creative forces and focus on fun, personalized, and custom apparel and mugs. While I am constantly perfecting my designing skills and have great affinity for personalized and inspirational designs, he is the one with the funny bone - and thus helps with the sarcastic and humorous designs. It truly is a family affair because the kiddos are also showing interest and talking about running their own shops someday.
All of the designs you see in our shop are our own original creation. We do not use pre-made designs. We may use pre-made design elements and fonts to bring our ideas to life - in which case we have a commercial licence for every single element used. We spend hours working in different programs to bring these designs to life - some of the designs have to go through several programs to achieve the look we are going for. And the hours we don't spend designing, we are improving our skills - so stay tuned for many different products in the future. We have partnered with a US based print shop that prints and ships all of our products directly to you - with the goal of providing the highest quality printing that will endure the washer or dishwasher.
