From Survival to Storytelling — Art That Speaks for the Unseen.
Hi, I’m the artist behind Ivory Kay Creations. I’m a self-taught emerging artist whose work centers around Black life, resilience, and emotional truth through bold color, texture, and modern pop-art-inspired styles.
Art has been part of me since childhood, but life took me on a long detour. I became a mother to two beautiful boys with special needs, survived domestic violence and homelessness, and rebuilt from the ground up. Through it all, art remained my quiet language of survival. Today, I finally stand fully in that identity — not just someone who makes art, but an artist.
My work blends realism with stylized color separation, symbolism, and texture. I paint custom pieces, and then I paint what I know: Black history, Black joy, struggle, identity, and healing. Many of my pieces are inspired by untold stories — inventors, children with disabilities, overlooked heroes, and everyday people carrying quiet strength.
Because my oldest son is autistic and has a rare neurological condition, I often incorporate raised textures, real jewelry, and mixed media to create sensory-rich artwork that can be felt as well as seen. I also connect music to visual storytelling, sometimes embedding sound into pieces so viewers can experience emotion through multiple senses.
My art is about representation, resilience, and re-imagining what’s possible — especially for people who’ve been told their stories don’t matter.
