Hola, my name is Jacqueline and I am an artist painting the world in shades of brown. Welcome to JCar Creative's Etsy shop. Based in the DMV, I am a Latina who is using design to bring beauty & diversity to the world.

Growing up, I always dreamed of being an artist. Life took many beautiful turns though and I ended up going to Cornell University, my dream school. I was so happy being a first-generation, Mexican-American, Latina in the ivy leagues who was able to bring joy to her familia. After that, I moved to NYC and eventually my career brought me to the DMV area, Northern Virginia to be specific.

As we can all probably relate to, COVID flipped my life upside down. Back in March, I got furloughed. Instead of seeing the glass half empty though, I saw the glass half full. I finally had time to pursue what I most wanted in my heart, the journey of establishing myself as an artist.

My whole life I've dedicated myself to uplifting and rooting for my community, my art is no different. I make art that highlights Latinx culture and celebrates everything it is to not only be Latinx, but a third culture kid, and a kid of color. I make art that speaks Spanglish and through my art I hope to call attention to our beautiful history. I want to make art that my people see themselves in. I want to make art that makes mi gente feel seen.

In the times we are living in right now, I think this is all the more important. My art is my act of revolution. I hope that my pieces bring love and light to people's lives and homes and that in them they are reminded of their value and to keep going always.
