About the Designer...
James’ designing interests began primarily with architectural design, interior design, furniture design, industrial design, fashion design, and then ultimately led him down the path to jewelry design. In his words, jewelry design has allowed him to expand and incorporate all facets of his design experience. The solidity and three dimensionality of furniture design, the textures of fashion design, and the bold lines of industrial design, has created the core of his organic and versatile jewelry collection line.
“My vision is to create interactive pieces with versatility and obtain equanimity among those who appreciate art and design. My work consists of free abstracted organic elements while exercising irregularity and asymmetrical points, constantly challenging the laws and the principles of nature, art, and design. It is the collaboration with nature and freedom that has brought me closer to my designs. I want to stay open to the outer elements and embrace the unknown, while maintaining an artistic touch of interconnectivity between diverse cultures.”
JY COLLECTIONS is a culmination of James Yick’s background, life experience and vision as a designer and his concepts of reality today.
