Crazy Bottle Lady
My core belief as an artist is that art and craftsmanship are one in the same. When creating a design for a client I must envision the surrounding, natural light, budget, sustainability and envision my client’s inner desire while satisfying my own.
I create indoor and outdoor designs utilizing hand cut, kiln fired recycled glass, woven with reclaimed metal and wood. Each unique piece embodies a passion for color, light and craftsmanship. My favorite aspect of what I create is that clients do not see the glass as it once was, but instead as a new art form.
Process: I collect various liquor, vintage and household bottles from friends, family and local establishments. There is a no judgement policy at our home when collections are dropped off. Before design begins, there is a lot of prep work. The bottles are stripped of their labels, cut down for the desired use and then kiln fired for 24 hours and cleaned again of kiln dust. Some pieces will need to be ground down if there is a sharp area that did not melt well. I can usually use about 90% of the glass fired for my designs, the remainder is recycled. Scraps left from the copper wire wrapping, pipes and sheet copper are also saved and recycled as well. The majority of my packaging is created from recycled materials and I always reuse mailers and boxes that I receive at my home. If we all do our part, the world could be a better place.
I hope you enjoy my designs.
Recycle every day!
