I started my jewelry line Joveda in March 2012 creating handmade, one-of-a-kind jewelry. Joveda is sophisticated and unique with an eclectic and edgy aesthetic. From a young age, I was always encouraged to play in nature, explore my creative side and to love all living things. Whether it was my natural attraction to textures, color, nature, shapes, or inspiration from the world around me, I have always been passionate about creating and being able to express myself artistically. After majoring in Fashion Design in Philadelphia, I spent some time in Vermont. It was there that I truly started creating jewelry. Previous design projects left me with endless amounts of metal wire. One night I pulled out a box of materials I had sitting in my garage and started to make myself a ring using marker caps as my base to mold the shape. I then started to take apart a bracelet I wore when I was young and wrapped wire around the beads creating my first wire wrapped ring. From there, Joveda was born. Incorporating these materials in to my work makes my pieces personal and special. I enjoy bringing a part of my past in to my present work and love the idea that a piece I create will start a new life once it falls into the hands of a new person. As my work has evolved, I have fallen in love with gemstones, the raw natural beauty that nature provides. I have expanded my materials and thoroughly enjoy working with stones and other materials. When I design, I am not only thinking about how to create a piece of jewelry that will look beautiful on the body, but more importantly how the person wearing Joveda is going to feel when wearing one of my creations. One of the greatest parts about designing is the process of working to create a vision, watching as my idea comes to life, and having the opportunity to share my work with others.
