We’re Kevin and Tristen Glaab — the husband-and-wife team behind Kage Design Studio, proudly founded in Southern California in 2013.
With the help of our incredible team, we’ve been designing and handcrafting custom furniture for residential, commercial, restaurant, hospitality, and industrial spaces across the country — in all styles and at every scale.
Since childhood, we’ve both shared a deep love for art, design, and the creative process. Kevin, born and raised in Chino, California, studied Art in Florence, Italy and Interior Design from the Interior Designers Institute in Newport Beach. Tristen, whose roots trace from Nova Scotia, Canada to Orange County, California, grew up living in many places and studied Fashion Marketing and Design at California Design College in Los Angeles.
Together, our diverse backgrounds and shared creative passion allow us to see each project through a unique lens. We find joy in every piece we craft and are truly honored to create furniture that brings people together.
OUR STORY
A beautifully imperfect table made of reclaimed wood — thin, patchworked, full of character and texture.
At the time, we had big dreams but no clear direction. Kevin was feeling stuck in his sales job, and the fashion company Tristen led, had just folded after a downturn in the industry. We had just welcomed our first baby and knew something needed to change.
So, about that table…
Kevin, a natural-born artist and skilled craftsman, had been making furniture as a hobby for family and friends. Tristen, a lifelong creative with an eye for design and a head for business, had always found joy in turning ideas into something tangible.
We didn’t have much — just a computer, a few basic tools, and absolutely no idea what we were doing. But we had a goal, a hope, and a willingness to work hard and figure it out along the way. So Tristen snapped a photo of that table and posted it on Etsy with a simple mindset: Let’s see how this goes.
We couldn’t have predicted what would come next — the growth, the lessons, or the joy of working side by side out of our garage for those first two years. We couldn’t yet see that we’d one day have a team, a real workshop, or the opportunity to spend our days doing what we love: designing and building meaningful pieces that would hold stories and memories for others.

PASSION
We design and build tables, desks, seating — and everything in between. Our hearts beat wildly knowing we get to create spaces where families can slow down and connect in meaningful ways. We believe everyone needs a place to gather daily — to meet face-to-face, fill each other’s cups, and nourish their souls. A place that reminds them of what matters most.
PURPOSE
Our journey has been shaped by personal battles with autoimmune disease, seasons of loss, failure, and ongoing trials. Through it all, we’ve learned the deep impact that healthy relationships and nourishing food have on our bodies and spirits. Out of that pain, we’ve found purpose.
We’re honored to play a small role in educating children on the value of real food — empowering them to make choices that support not only their physical health, but their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Every child deserves that knowledge, and the power to live life fully.
