Frequently asked questions

General Clay Care Instructions

Clay is pretty sturdy and lasts a long time! One of the oldest signs of human existence is pottery. The process of firing the malleable medium over 2000 degrees turns it into solid matter akin to rock! That being said, a good knock on a solid surface can cause chips and cracks. Avoid hard impacts!

Item Specific Care-Foodware and Planters

Foodware:
All ceramics are inherently dishwasher safe. That being said, the life of an item (commercial or not) can be greatly extended by hand washing.

I stick to a commercial glaze for the lining of my drinkware.

Everything is glazed with lead-free food-food glazes unless otherwise stated.

Item Specific Care-Jewelery

Glazed pendants are glazed with a mid-fire glaze. The glaze adds to the strength and beauty of the piece. Avoid hard knocks and impacts!

Gold, White Gold, and Mother of Pearl adorned pieces are triple fired to achieve that amazing look. Take care not to create excessive friction on the surface of these items or the effect might wear off.

Bare pieces are sanded within an inch of their lives and rubbed with a tiny drop of food-grade mineral oil. If the soft sheen starts to wear, use an oil of your choice to reinvigorate it.

Item Specific Care-Smokeware

Clay is an amazing material when it comes to smoking devices. The fired clay has superior cooling abilities in addition to being a sturdier product overall. Plus, there is something very poetic about using something forged in fire for your fire related needs ;)

All smokeware is glazed with lead-free food-safe glazes!

Personally, I clean my pieces with alcohol and a pipe cleaner. Seeing as how coffee mugs can take boiling hot water, I also boil my larger clay pipes. As with pretty much anything, exercise caution when moving from one extreme temperature to the other. Anything that will clean a glass piece can clean my glazed pieces, because glaze is essentially just glass with some extra shit in it to make it pretty!

Miscellaneous Shop Notes

Due to the handmade nature of my products, and the human nature of my brain, all sizes are approximate.

I try to photograph my work in a few different lighting scenarios to give you the best idea of what you will get. Due to the difference of natural vs indoor light as well as the discrepancy of color representation on different screens, the final product may vary slightly.

By making any tobacco related purchase in my shop you agree that you are the legal minimum age to do so in your state. All items are intended for responsible consumption of tobacco and by making a purchase you agree to the above statement and assume all liability regarding your purchase and personal use.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Over 90% of my packaging is composed of recycled/upcycled materials.

If you are purchasing a gift for someone or some special occasion, include that as a note on your order and tell me why they are so amazing and I will make it extra special ;)

Wholesale availability

Message me directly for wholesale opportunities. I look forward to working with you ;)

Custom and personalized orders

I am absolutely open to custom/personalized orders. Processing times for these items are greatly increased and vary depending on my workload/what you desire. I can not guarantee I will take your custom order, but message me and we can discuss the cost/time frame. My one hard policy is 50% upfront for fully customized work (i.e. includes custom text/image). The rest is due upon completion and approval. Due to the long-form nature of the ceramic process, revisions are on a case-by-case basis. Everything will be clearly stated in our communications before any payments are accepted.

Refunds

As a rule of thumb, I generally do not do refunds or exchanges, but you can always feel free to contact me with any concerns. I will always do my best to help resolve an issue however I can.

Damaged Items

If an item arrives damaged, please contact me within 72 hours and include a few pictures. Due to the handmade nature of my items, I can't promise an exact replacement, but I will do my best to get you something similar or equivalent. In the event that I don't have something on par with the damaged item, we will discuss different replacement possibilities or a refund, whatever suits your needs.
