Kaga YUBINUKI, traditional Japanese craft
Kaga YUBINUKI,traditional Japanese craft
Kaga YUBINUKI is a traditional Japanese craftwork born in Kanazawa during Genroku period of Edo era.YUBINUKI is a thimble, a sewing tool. The beautiful pattern is the product of exquisite small patterns created by carefully overlapped silk yarns. The mysterious,jewel-like gloss can be achieved only by silk yarns. In addition to being used as a sewing tool, they are now also loved as accessories.
It was about 10 years ago that I first became fascinated with Kaga thimbles, and fell in love at first sight with the beauty of the silk thread.
Changing the color or the way the thread is carried creates a completely different impression, making it a very complex craft.
I would be happy if people overseas could learn about this beauty.
I hope it will add color to your lives.
Kaga YUBINUKI is a traditional Japanese craft born in Kanazawa (formerly Kaga) during the Genroku period of the Edo era. A YUBINUKI is a thimble, originally used as a sewing tool. The intricate and beautiful patterns are created by delicately overlapping fine silk threads, producing a mysterious, jewel-like shine that only silk can offer.
About 10 years ago, I first encountered Kaga YUBINUKI and fell in love at first sight with the beauty of silk thread. A simple change in color or thread direction transforms the pattern completely—this depth is part of what makes the craft so captivating.
In recent years, my work has also been selected by international buyers, and my thimbles have been featured at the Portland Japanese Garden (USA), as well as in boutique shops in Monaco and France. It is a great honor that these traditional Japanese crafts have been appreciated beyond borders.
I would be delighted if more people overseas could discover and enjoy the quiet beauty of Kaga YUBINUKI.
I hope it adds a small touch of color and joy to your life.
