Practical guides for testers, by a tester
Hi, I'm Kat!
I've spent close to five years testing games and software for a living, over a thousand games and around a hundred different software products, ranging from indie passion projects shipped by a single developer to titles backed by major AAA studios. Along the way I learned that the gap between "I want to break into QA" and "I can apply for a QA role with a portfolio in hand" is mostly about structure, vocabulary, and a few habits nobody bothers to teach beginners.
That gap is what these guides exist to close.
I'm a computer nerd, but the work I love most sits at the intersection of technology and people. Testing is a craft. So is writing. Both are about looking carefully at something, noticing what's wrong, and explaining it in a way someone else can act on. The guides in this shop bring those two crafts together, in plain language, with no gatekeeping and no fluff.
A note on what drives this work: I love the digital world and I want it to be more approachable for everyone who wants in. That means writing the guide I wish I'd had on day one, keeping the language honest, and refusing to pad page counts to look more impressive.
If something I've made helps you land your first role, or even just your first clean bug report, I'd love to hear about it. Reviews are gold for a small shop like this, they're how the next person finds the work.
Thanks for being here!
