Welcome to Kathryn's Collection!
Make a statement wearing what you love! My designs are simple, pretty, unique and fun. Much of my inspiration comes from nature, the changing seasons, animals and being the tomboy that I am, sports. My pieces truly are conversation starters!
I've been creating and selling my jewelry for over three decades, mainly traveling the art fair circuit in the Midwest. Many of my designs have been born from requests by customers and from suggestions by friends and family.
My handmade jewelry line is made with, but not limited to: found objects, bits and pieces of nature, recycled/upcycled objects, metal charms (many vintage), various unique jewelry findings and Swarovski Crystals - all made to represent something you love!
I've been a collage maker/designer since as far back as I can remember, using anything from pieces I found in nature to things I would scrounge anywhere and everywhere for! My jewelry endeavors began when I was very young from making necklaces out of beautiful Indian corn, to taking classes in high school and selling out of my creations to teachers but I'm mostly self-taught and my 'style' has been refined over the years, scaling down the humongous collage pins that I used to make (LOL!) and lots of trial and error!
My Etsy shop exists because when my dog, Hunter, began to lose his battle with cancer in 2015 I was committed to being there for him 24/7 to help him with everything he needed, so that is when I began to build my Etsy shop. Little did I realize at the time that while I was helping him, he was the one helping me more! Many of my pet memorial designs are inspired by him, and I became obsessed with designing even more memorial items after losing him. Art has always been therapy for me, and while I am making memorial items for others who want to celebrate the life of a precious fur baby, it helps me as well. In a way, it's also kind of like a creative "escape" when I'm in my office hammering metal or creating new designs.
My business also enables me to indulge in one of my greatest passions: animal rescue. I am involved with several animal welfare organizations including animal shelters, dog rescues, and local wildlife rehabs/rescues. When I'm not working and designing new products, I can be found out in nature with my dogs who remind me each and every day to take a little time out to play!
