Every idea behind an endeavor has a story that makes it happen. The story behind my idea, my project and my drawing, happened when I was in school.
My first drawing teacher was a famous painter in Romania in the 80ies. Her ideas and teaching methods were so different from the “standard program”, she had to leave the school after one year. But during that year, she managed to give us another perspective on drawing and painting, and had a powerful influence on me.

I remember it so well when she drew for us a very different and interesting thing- a phoenix bird! Just imagine: a phoenix bird among the “usual” school drawing projects – houses, streets with happy kids, blocks of flats, the sun shining above it all. A happy illusive world. And then came … the phoenix bird, with her flowing magical lines. Lines that told a story, lines that told millions of stories, mysterious and miraculous. Lines and forms that made us dream, lines and forms that intertwined, flowed into each other telling tales that never ended.
I drew a lot of phoenix birds in the years to come. The lines evolved, the stories grew, took different shapes, but they kept the same magical flow…

My daughter was born a few years ago, giving me a lot of new thoughts, motivations, projects – a whole new world. A new world of drawing, too. I felt the need to make something different for her. I felt the need to show her the magical lines, the never ending stories and anchor them into reality. There is a “story” about a clever turtle, one about a courageous seahorse, about a funky princess, a wild car, a glorious butterfly… You just have to follow the lines and get swept in the tales – I think they make a difference…
…also on her clothes!! I wanted to share the stories with everybody, so I started using the motifs on her t-shirts, leggings, tops - she loved it. And her friends did too!
