Screen-Free Games and Learning for Curious Kids
Kea Kids Lab is inspired by one of New Zealand’s most curious and clever natives: the kea (pronounced keh-ah). Kea are known for their playful problem-solving, persistence, and habit of exploring how things work. They learn by experimenting, adjusting, and trying again — and that spirit is at the heart of everything created here.
I’m a parent of two very different children, and over the years I’ve built and adapted games, activities, and learning tools to suit different personalities, interests, ages, and ways of thinking. I discovered that the best resources weren't the ones that simply taught a skill—they were the ones that encouraged children to think, create, solve problems, and enjoy learning together.
Like many parents, I wanted resources that were flexible, genuinely engaging, and easy for busy families and educators to use again and again. So I began designing our own — games and activities that encourage thinking, discussion, and confidence, while still feeling genuinely fun.
Kea Kids Lab grew from those real experiences at home. Today, Kea Kids Lab is a growing collection of original screen-free games, learning activities, and party printables designed to bring families together through play. Every resource is thoughtfully created to encourage curiosity, creativity, problem solving, and meaningful connection.
Everything here is created to spark kea-style curiosity, support independent thinking, and make learning feel like play. I love creating resources that children genuinely ask to play again.
