Kelly Lane { Organic Clothes for Colorful Living }
H I S T O R Y
With a little bit of fate, and a lifetime love for art and design, Kelly Lane was born. In 2005, then graphic designer, I received a sewing machine as a gift from my husband. After a few classes I was in full stride experimenting with a new, untapped medium.
A local Pittsburgh boutique owner took notice of my work, and asked me to make a few pieces for the store. After a successful reception where 28 of 38 pieces sold through in one weekend, I was encouraged to take my efforts to the next level.
I learned about the business of fashion from the buyer’s perspective and quickly understood that in order to create a meaningful line, I needed to listen to the wants, needs, and desires of the discerning workingwoman.
One of my own desires – to create a line of clothing using materials and processes that have minimal impact on people and the planet – emerged out of my day-to-day commitment to live sustainably. Growing up in North Carolina gave me first hand experience of what happens to a small town when a major source of employment, such as cotton production, moves over seas.
In the summer of 2006, I infused the results of these desires and conversations with my trademark as a graphic designer – excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, and unique combinations of color, print, and line – to create, Kelly Lane.
At it's peak, Kelly Lane was carried in over 50 stores internationally and cultivated a dedicated following of independently minded women who value thoughtful, inspired design.

After giving birth to a beautiful baby boy in 2012, I completed my last collection for Kelly Lane (Spring 2013), and decided it was time for much needed break.
Three years later, I am ready for a fresh start. With a studio full of fabric and endless inspiration from my son, I am thrilled to begin Kelly Lane Kids – a new eco-friendly line for children that gives expression to their colorful lives!
And don't worry ladies! We will have new wares for you soon. Working part-time, I have to keep it small and sustainable. Thank you Etsy for making this possible!
