Brightening Spaces
Hi! I create original acrylic and watercolor paintings. I'm an artist (and optimist) with a passion for documenting daily life, celebrating nature's beauty, and spreading joy. My work is playful and packed with color and made with the intent to brighten a space and inspire a smile.
In our busy days, we strive to do so much and often times our personal pursuits get pushed to the bottom of our to-do list. I share this battle constantly, but I've been making progress thanks to portable supplies and a willingness to work at odd times and places such as while in the car in the pick up line at school.
Armed with a small kit of supplies and photo reference on my phone, I've been able to work on my art during these snippets of found time. It's not always ideal, but if I waited for the perfect time and abundant space...well, I'd make a lot less art.
Sharing photos of my process and the quirky places I work on Instagram and Facebook has been a great way to connect with like minded creative people, and it's helped me finish pieces because I'm eager to share how it all turned out.
I primarily paint flowers because I love the variety of colors and shapes, as well as the memories that certain blooms evoke for all of us. Roses remind me of my great grandfather's garden, and zinnias belong to my great grandmother who dried the flower heads on the window sill of the garage to plant the next year. Forsythia would announce spring in my mom's yard and were so bright they seemed to glow. So while yes, I paint a lot of flowers, I often feel like my paintings are about much more than that.
