Great American Maid black slip for wearing under dresses. You can’t find anything but the cheap slips on Amazonn, so vintage is the way to go. Half nylon and half Dacron polyester, it has satiny feel, fits and looks great. I have others with nylon only and that is great too, more of a silky feel, love all the 1950’s-70’s made undergarments for dresses.

Life on Kelly Street

I enjoyed living on Kelly Street. It was close to the ocean in Southern California and I was in high school. Our house was kind of late modernism meets the Mediterranean with lots of sliding glass doors. We had a dog named Harley who liked to run on the beach. My friend Estella and I would comb through the thrift stores on the weekends for clothing and accessories. She had an amazing eye and would do my makeup and style my clothes. She made me look good; everybody should have a generous friend like her. I guess I did the driving.

My grandmother taught me how to hunt the thrift stores as a child, she was a rare and first edition book dealer, selling to collectors and colleges. She would drag my sister along to thrift stores in LA and we would look at everything. Sometimes, I got thirsty.
