I originally bought this after a friend let me borrow their copy so I knew it would be great! I needed a copy for myself. They sent me an additional documentary too, which was lovely.

What an amazing documentary. And even better that I get to support the creator directly by purchasing it from them. I highly recommend both of the films available currently. However, the persistence of vision is simply stunning.

Persistence of Vision tells the story of a difficult animation genius whose masterwork, in an age of commercialism over craft, was ripped from his hands by capitalism. It is almost like a Greek tragedy, with Williams' obsession with his work being his tragic flaw. It was interesting to see the animated scenes get more developed as the doc went on -- it didn't feel repetitive, but iterative. It's also interesting that Kevin Schrek bucked postmodernism and basically removed himself as the filmmaker completely from the story, letting the interviews, historical facts, and the actual animation work speak for themselves. I'm glad I finally watched it! Next is Tangent Realms -- I thought I couldn't watch it because of a lack of a Blu-ray player, but after messaging Kevin, he let me know that the case has a DVD version included.
