I create original handmade, unique/textured/tactile/tattoo pyrography(wood burning art), any subject matter in each item, now selling other artwork.
Hello, everyone, my story is that I worked in a family restaurant business for 16 years, decided to have a change of career and start my own pyrography business.
I have been drawing about 43 years, drawing all sorts of subject matter like caricatures, comic character's, architecture, portraits, animals, surreal, cubism, tattoo design(tribal), sugar skull, ethnic art and anatomical image's. Decided to try out pyrography (burning images on wood) to sell. I went to this Art and Craft workshop with Prospects Foundation in March 2016, to learn about fretwork and pyrography, I got very interested in pyrography, so that my artistic background helped me transfer my drawing skills to another technique, easily.
My processing techniques are to burn the wood deep to give a detailed, textured and tactile feel to the picture with a splash of colour to some, not to spoil the pyrography design artwork and whereas if some just need straight pyrography, to tell a story of each piece in a subject matter, whether it's historic, fantasy, oriental or tribal tattoo and so on. I tend go with the flow attitude without any knowledge what it is going to look like until I'm satisfied with image presented to me, telling a story in the picture, plus I always like a challenge myself with subject matter with a twist to the picture, plus started selling my other ink/mixed media artwork.
What inspired me is the works of M. C. Escher, H. R. Giger, Leonardo De Vinci, Frank Miller, Brian Bolland, Kandinsky, Jackson Pollock, Norman Foster, Frank Gehry, Frank Lloyd Wright, Santiago Calatrava, Edvard Munch, Salvador Dali, Luis Royo, etc. The list is endless and everyday, someone inspires me, especially my grandmother that passed away, dad, sister, brother, other family members and friends!
