How it All Began
Collecting for me began at a tender age, around 8 or 9, with coins. How fascinating it was to find, sort, categorize and research these shiny slivers of history! Later, in high school, I relished coming home from school and digging for old bottles in the dump by our 1834 Connecticut farmhouse. Ah, what treasures could be found there...........what a thrill to find an old bottle that had been buried for a century! It was archeology at its best!
Both my parents had a love for old things. My mother, mostly out of necessity, always shopped for clothes at thrift stores and bazaars. My father introduced me to flea markets; sometimes we would rent a space ourselves to help declutter the barn & attic. Oh, the fun and excitement of setting up early in the morning as the sun rose!
Later, in the 70's & 80's as a young mother myself, shopping at tag sales and thrift stores proved to be an economical way to furnish a home and clothe our girls on a shoestring. Selling antiques and collectibles became a part-time occupation once our youngest was in high school, and has continued unabated every since!
Living where we do, in picturesque upstate New York, an area brimming with abandoned barns, dusty attics, second hand stores, flea markets, estate sales and auctions, has been a joy! We are pleased to share these small treasures, some which we have cherished for many years, with you............
