Always a Creative...
I have been a creative from a very young age. I loved to draw, color, paint, write, and even learned to "finger crochet" when I was about 12. Creating beautiful things was a part of my DNA, I think!
As I grew, I found myself dabbling in new areas to expand my creative horizons. I started making jewelry (before it was cool!) and in 2006, after receiving a crocheted afghan from my grandfather's wife, I decided to learn to crochet. I was hooked! ;)
I loved quick-finish projects, like coasters and baby booties. The only problem? They started taking over my home! I wasn't blessed with children of my own, so I was giving away booties and selling them on eBay before Etsy came along. When it did, I was excited at the opportunity to get my creations out there and meet the needs of people who wanted handmade goods.
I started my Etsy shop in 2009. It's pretty much always been a part-time thing, but it helped support me through a surprise divorce, and it's a creative outlet that helps me stay positive and hopeful, no matter what life throws my way.
I'm now re-married (almost 4 years now!) and have two amazing stepdaughters. I love my new family so much!
I rebranded my shop after getting married because both of my stepdaughters are very creative and I wanted to have a place they could share their creations, too. They're teenagers now, so their interests are other places. But still, having our family name in my shop name was very important to me.
It's still very part-time, but is a great way to share my ideas, skills, and projects with the world. I hope they bring you as much joy as creating them does for me. <3
