I have always been a lover of color, of nature, and of the written word.
Hi, my name is Liesl and I'm the owner and artist of Knauer Designs! I have always had a creative flair and take great joy in painting, crafting, crocheting and anything else I can get my hands on. Though I sketched and painted at an early age and took art lessons from my grandmother in middle school, I really only began my painting journey in college.
I graduated from Messiah College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, armed with an arsenal of communication skills, a love for stage management, and lots of experience from the on-campus scene shop. After college, my summer job turned into a full-time job as a painter at a corn maze and adventure farm. Since then, I've gotten married and had a baby, read lots of books, and painted a lot because I love it.
My artist’s journey has taken me through forays into poetry and short stories, the world of theatre and performing, drawing and sketching, and much more. Landing in the world of visual art was unplanned but not unwanted. I have always been a lover of color, of nature, and of the written word. I enjoy finding small details in the world to study and appreciate. My art, therefore, is rooted in words and language, often with small details and lots of color. I can often be found painting a variety of things, beyond just a traditional canvas, and can appreciate the use of found objects or unusual forms of art. I believe we are all creators and have the capacity to create, even if it looks different for some people... problem-solving can be creative too! Art is just one way that people express their creativity, and I encourage everyone to find their own way of creating, even if it’s not through traditional forms of art.
