A Family Tradition
My earliest memories of my grandmother are of her knitting - knitting in our living room on visits, knitting on the train or bus when traveling - and the knitted dolls and animals she made for me are among some of my most treasured possessions.
When she began to pass along some of her pattern books and knitting needles I decided it was time to get serious about learning to knit. I could manage a garter stitch scarf, but dedicated myself to learning the skills necessary to make dolls and toys similar to the ones that I cherish. Soon it became clear that I could not keep all of my creations and so my Etsy shop was born!
Now I make the time to fit knitting in around a busy schedule full of work, family and fun. I find it relaxing and peaceful to see my creations take shape and develop personalities of their own. I love the intimacy of knitting because every centimeter of yarn in a finished project has passed through my hands. I hope to continue to expand my knowledge and skills and some day pass along the art of knitting to my daughters.
