Hand knit goods to keep you as warm as a wolf pack
What's warmer than a wolf pack? All that fur huddled up in a den is probably the warmest spot in the world. My hand knit goods are just as cozy.
I've had the "withwolves" tagged onto the end of my name since I adpoted two husky mixes in 2007. Lily and Hank go everywhere with me, and when they aren't tailing my every move, they are sleeping. The spot between their toasty, naptime bodies is the warmest spot in the house. When I started knitting seriously in 2010, it was hard to think of a name for my shop that didn't involve my thoughts of the warm cozy spot between them.
I have had my hands in design of some sort my whole life. I learned to knit and sew when I was 5. My grandmother taught me straight stockinette stitch and my mother taught me how to make a backpack from teddy-bear upholstery fabric. In college I studied Costume Design and Art History, I helped start an amateur clothing company and eventually ended up living outside Asheville, NC.
This shop is a reflection of what I know, and what I want to learn. I've spent the last two years learning all about where fiber comes from, who raises the animals, how the fiber is harvested (or shorn) how it's processed, dyed and spun. My love for the process is like a rabbit-hole. There is always more to learn, see and do.
My hope is that in the very near future I can offer a product that has not traveled more than 50 miles to go from sheep-alpaca-goat-rabbit to hat-scarf-mittens-sweater. But always with color, beauty and style.
