Welcome to Knot Sew Mod! My name is Melissa. I grew up in the Midwest surrounded by fabric and fiber makers. After years of crafting and making I headed off to college to deepen my knowledge of art. I studied Art Education but spent much of my time in the textile studio soaking up every fiber course offered. When I graduated I taught art for 11 years in schools in the Midwest, NYC, and Austin, Texas. When I became a mom my transition into motherhood was made easier by making useful items for my children while they slept. As they've grown I've begun making things for myself and my home. My children see the joy that making brings me and are inspired to do the same.

Knot Sew Mod sprang from my desire to always be making things, and from the encouragement of family and friends to make things for them. I want to share with you the inherent fun in every one-of-a-kind piece I make, and I hope you find inspiration in my work.
