Old School and loving it!
Hmmmm . . . that smell of leather! Growing up in the country outside of the tiny town of Estacada, Oregon, life was spent running the fields and pushing our imagination to its limits. I remember on warm summer nights as a girl, crawling out on the roof and sitting with a sketch pad dreaming up designs of gowns and paintings. As I got older I funneled my creative energy into school projects like prop design and art classes, later earning my Bachelors in Business Marketing. Wonderful life happened, and I am now married with two beautiful little girls, but I never lost that need and desire to create!
Many summer days were spent at farmer’s markets with my husband selling our wares of rustic wood and stone décor. One Christmas, I bought my husband, who is an amazing craftsman, leather working tools. Although he loves wood working and masonry work, I quickly found that leather was not on his list of desired skills to learn. But in that time my interest was piqued and so began my leather journey. My family is a bit old school in the fact that we love and appreciate things that last and are made through hard work. There is something so authentic and rich about working with leather, the way it smells and feels. You know you are making something that is naturally so strong and beautiful. After learning the basics of leather working, I started my own business, Knotty & Nice. I have seen success in craft shows and in stores but I am a so excited to open an online shop to reach a far greater audience!
