OUR STORY
LINEN ID was born from desire to embrace things that actually matter. We believe in the coexistence of design and sustainability: we aim to create extraordinary garments which You would cherish season after season. Every LINEN ID piece is handcrafted in our small studio to help You Reveal Your Nature.
I, Gabriele, the designer and founder of LINEN ID, have worked in the fashion industry for over two decades. Those were thrilling and rewarding years, full of interesting people and opportunities worldwide. Yet they also felt like a constant race. Something important was missing…
Not proud to say, but like majority of fashion designers, I associated linen with shapeless clothing. To me it had nothing to do with style or elevated design and I never thought it would become part of my identity. However, a few years ago one textile design project brought me to a local linen factory. I was allured. Linen spoke to me with its natural realness, raw beauty, freedom, unique aesthetics and openness for life. I spontaneously bought multiple rolls with all of the savings that I had.
This was the beginning of challenging, yet adventurous journey, which brought me to LINEN ID. Today we are a passionate team of seven experienced professionals working at a small slow fashion studio in Vilnius, Lithuania. Growing support from our clients affirms us that we have found our path.
Core principles of LINEN ID:
Distinctive design.
o Design is the soul of a garment. We focus on it from the very first sketch, all the way to the label. It is tempting to save time and cut costs by sparing details. However, we believe that thoughtful additions like buttons, loops, zippers or collars are key elements for functional comfort and beautiful design that will bring joy season after season.
Impeccable quality.
o We handle all the production process in-house, since it is the only way to ensure a full control over the quality of every garment.
o As much as the sewing process allows, we finish most of our garments with French seams. They are typically only present in high-end fashion. We believe that our clients deserve this as well. Few well-made items can mean more than an overflowing, but soulless wardrobe.
Personalized fit.
o To ensure perfect fit, our customers may provide their personal body measurements. We adjust their orders accordingly to create garments that we would be proud to wear ourselves.
Sustainability.
o We use 100% Lithuanian linen sourced from 3 local producers. Most linen we use is OEKO TEX certified, while any leftover scraps are repurposed or recycled. From saving energy, to compostable buttons and shipping bags, we’re learning to be better every day. The most sustainable fashion is one that last. We strive to achieve that through our design and quality.
Social responsibility.
o We care for You and for each other. We create employment opportunities for local seamstresses and treat our customers, partners and every member of our team fairly. Building genuine respect and bond makes us feel like a family.
