⁘ 100% VEGETABLE AND NATURAL ⁘

Rapeseed wax comes from France or Europe and does not undergo any genetic changes and does not deplete the soils of the crop unlike soy wax.

The containers are made of bamboo from a bamboo grove near Sarlat la Caneda and the wicks are made of certified sustainable wood.

Zero CO2 emissions for recycling or manufacturing.

As for scented oils, they are also totally pure, natural and do not contain any carcinogenic or stabilizing substances! All ingredients are of plant and natural origin. They are recognized for their properties and used for millennia in China, the Middle East, Egypt, Greece, Latin America and Africa.

Sacred Lights was born from this passion for antiquity and its knowledge, this project being a mixture of the sacred knowledge of ancient civilizations.

A deep desire to create fragrances that can carry into the mists of time, in temples dedicated to goddesses and gods, in shamanic rituals, or during sacred festivals.

It was an evidence to work with adequate materials and respectful of the Earth, a sacred gift, so naturally I was inspired by all this precious heritage conveyed by texts or images to create scented candles in bamboos as old as the world.

⁘ A SHORT HISTORY OF PERFUME ⁘

Since the dawn of time perfume has had a predetermined role, that of a magician who awakens the olfactory senses of man. Derived from the Latin per-fu-mum, the word perfume means smoke, steam. Although it is difficult to date the origins of perfume, we can still draw a parallel with the appearance of fire when men realized that some woods gave off by burning a smell that was pleasant to them.

✤ MESOPOTAMIA

The Mesopotamians burned aromatics for the gods, kinds of fumigations, to flatter the nose as much as to purify the air of the sanctuaries. Incense, which is still used today in Christian churches, was probably already used in Mesopotamia.

The fragrant smell proceeds in ancient Mesopotamia from the diffusion of a vegetable aroma, but it is also an emanation of the gods or the king: "breathing the good smell of the king" is for his servants an intense source of satisfaction. This quality of the sovereign is also fundamentally due to the sacralization of his person and the borrowing of qualities that are especially specific to the gods, as well as the luminous aura – the melammu – which surrounds divinities and human sovereign.

✤ EGYPT

In ancient Egypt, improving one's appearance was also a spiritual and sacred sense, it was necessary to maintain one's body and preserve it well.

The blue lotus had the preference of the Egyptians, they regularly held a lotus flower that they smelled with adoration.

Perfumes had a great role in Egyptian society. Jar labels, dating from the Thinite period (from 3000 to 2700 BCE), have been found in Abydos and often refer to sacred oils or perfumes.

✤ INDIA

The attar is a very old product, its origins date back to antiquity. The first traces of perfumery in the Kannauj region of India date back to the second century BCE.
The word attar, atr, ittar or othr, is of Arabic origin and means "scent".

This word would itself be derived from the Sanskrit word sugandha, meaning "aromatic".
Since time immemorial, India has been producing many raw materials for perfumery. It has an intimate and deep relationship with scents, whether in the form of incense, spices, garlands of flowers, aromatic oils or perfumes.

✤ SOUTH AMERICA

For millennia, South America has been a source of surprising smells and tastes. These vast lands and its ancestral Mayan traditions have offered the Old World a multitude of olfactory and gastronomic discoveries hitherto unknown. At the beginning of the sixteenth century, the Spanish conquerors freshly landed on the Mexican coast, were welcomed by the Aztec emperor Montezuma. As a sign of welcome, he offered them a royal drink called "Tchocolatl", a delicious beverage with aromas of chocolate and vanilla. An olfactory heritage that will soon invade the tables and noses of Europeans.

⁘ ARTISANAL MANUFACTURING ⁘

The Sacred Lights are above all unique objects, because of their design and originality. The sampling of bamboo is methodical, I do not disturb or destroy an environment to obtain it. It is made sparingly and gently and then sublimated.

Container design takes up the majority of time and manual work. Cutting bamboo requires concentration and precision, drying, patience, sanding is my artistic side that seems to take care of it. Then comes the setting of a natural flame retardant system and the varnishing with linseed oil.

Then, it is here that takes on the full meaning of the name Sacred Lights
Each candle is poured only on full moon evenings and freezes outside in its light and wisely awaits the first light of the Sacred Sun.

In alchemy, the Moon has great importance, as well as the Sun. Inseparable, they unite in Alchemy, to give life to the renewed being their marriage presides over the rebirth, named Rebis.

A being who has lived a rebirth, born and fertilized by the union of the Sun and the Moon, lunar and solar principles.
A being aware of his double nature luminous and obscure.
A being who knew how to explore its dark facets, dive into its abyssal depths and discover its own mysteries, riddles and truths.
