EMBERLITES OR YOOPERLITES?

These Fluorescent Sodalite Syenite "Emberlites" being found along our Great Lakes are being used for everything from earrings, necklaces and jewelry to handles for knives, carved animals and even some put them in reptile tanks or just on display. Also they have been known to be "healing stones" that some seek out to their specific needs.

They are found mostly along Lake Superior in Michigan but have also been discovered along Lake Michigan in Wisconsin and even as far south as Chicago in Illinois. Also they've been discovered inland, being deposited there 1,000's of years ago.

The person who discovered them in Michigan named them "Yooperlites", but then later named his company the same thing creating confusion. The stones we find have to be named something else, as not to confuse people where they came from....

So many on Etsy and elsewhere are using "Emberlite" as a way to describe basically the same "Fluorescent Sodalite Syenite" being found all across the lake. I hope this removes any confusion you may have as you why these my stones are not called "Yooperlites".
