LavaMoonCreative - It's good to be different!
Hi, I’m Mel (aka Lava) — the creator behind LavaMoonCreative. “Lava” was my roller derby alter ego ('Lava Croft'), inspired by my archaeological background, time spent excavating Pompeii and a lifelong love of Tomb Raider.
LavaMoonCreative is an alternative, neurodiverse (ADHD), mama-owned creative business rooted in originality and (often not-so) quiet rebellion. I’m drawn to the darker side of life and feel most at home among skulls, moody aesthetics and mysterious mythologies or creatures. I create designs that lean into shadow, evoke historic lore or brings a sense of calm through nature.
Alongside my creative work, I’m professionally trained and work in the forensic field. That background — grounded in observation, accuracy and attention to detail — naturally informs my designs, particularly those inspired by forensics, crime scene investigation and true crime.
I’m passionately building a business that values originality and high-quality design at an affordable price - quality doesn’t need to be expensive! Kindness, creativity, originality and fun sit at the heart of my shop, alongside being unapologetically different.
Beyond the studio, I’m an alternative goth girl with a long-standing love of motorbikes and is now finally learning to ride. That sense of freedom and adventure runs through everything I do and is woven into the soul of LavaMoonCreative.
