Creating One of A Kind Art

In 2011, I rediscovered my love of snail mail and the enjoyment that came from creating special little pieces for my friends and family. Whether that be a simple heat pack or slips of inspiration paper, I was hooked. I rediscovered my love of art, illustration and general craftiness and gently reintroduced myself to the world of creating.

In 2012, I developed "The Lemon Hive", my place to create those one of a kind greetings cards and artistic pieces that had previously been reserved for my lovely friends and family. I opened it up to custom orders and kept it up to date with my own stock of cards that I had created off the top of my head.

As time progressed, I wondered a little more about how I could incorporate my own love of stationary and paper products generally and I started learning more about photoshop and illustrator. Most of the products in The Lemon Hive shop are original hand drawn and hand illustrated items. Occasionally, prints are also offered here.

◊ From brainstorming, designing and creating, each item listed takes at least 1 hour to finish.

◊ There are no patterns, stencils or templates used, so they truly are unique.

◊ These cards are hand painted and created, so imperfections may be visible: this is real art, not pixels. - even when they are prints - the editing is minimal.

◊ Postage is a guideline for this item. If you overpay postage and packaging, I will reimburse.

◊ I'm always happy to hear from those interested in custom orders.

Accepted payment methods

Paypal Mastercard Visa American Express Discover Apple Pay Klarna Giftcard
Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
If you are choosing to pay via Paypal, then great! Etsy usually makes this super easy but just in case there are problems the e-mail payment address is thelemonhive [!at] gmail.com.

For orders that require various sketches and extensive pre-arrangement a $15 deposit is required, this is later deducted from the final cost. For example, this would apply for a custom card order of over 100, if you required that 3-4 sample drawings before deciding on a final design.

Because your order is important and I'm a perfectionist, please contact me before buying a custom order, as I need to ensure that I have the time to dedicate to your masterpiece.

Always contact me for any international shipments, so we can discuss duties and customs. They are always the responsibility of the buyer but in some instances, we can play around with the way you pay.

E.g. UPS shipping let's me enter if it is you or the recipient paying for duties and customs. This is particularly useful if you are sending a gift to a loved one in the UK but residing in Canada, with this option you will be billed for the duties so that your gift is a complete surprise to the recipient without any surprise bills!

Uh-oh! Mistakes happen, we order the wrong product or later realise that we cannot afford the item.

I totally get that having to cancel an order can be awkward but I understand and will try to make it as easy as possible for you. So long as I am informed before posting, I will happily cancel and refund your money if it hasn't already been written (if requested), mailed or made (for custom orders).

For custom orders that are partially completed, funds can be refunded for the percentage not completed. For any product that has not been mailed, you will be eligible to a postage refund.
I pop to the post office once a week, although I try to go more often during busy periods.

If you are choosing standard delivery then expect shipping times to vary depending on your location. I use Canada Post (check out their website for more accurate details fof shipment times) as standard, which I love, but due to weather restrictions there can be some delays which are beyond my control!

According to Canada Post:

:: Within Canada Shipments ::
Estimated to take about 1 week. I usually add a few days to this because I don't think they sort mail at the weekends.

:: International Shipments: US ::
The website claims that this can take 1 week to 10 days. Again, add a few days for weekends and US/Canadian national holidays.

:: International Shipments: Outside North America ::
Airmail and surface mail are options for overseas shipping.

Although I usually don't ship by surface mail (ship-mail), it's worth noting it's really cheap but can take up to 6 weeks. Let me know if this option interests you.

Normally, airmail takes about 1 week to 10 days. It depends on customs and your country's own public mailing systems. Once shipments reach your country, they are handed to the national mailing system and then it will be dependent on their average timings. So, check with your local post office for estimations.

All shipping for products under a $50 CAD value are not tracked as standard.

Please let me know if you wish this to be a gift or posted to an alternative address.

I do not use couriers as standard, but for larger orders and those that are travelling further I am open to using a courier because of the easy to track nature.

I insure all tracked items.

The buyer is responsible for any taxes eligible for products. Please allow extra time at customs. I ensure that my declaration on the front of the package is as clear as possible. If you are in a country with an official language other than English, please let me know.

Upgraded postage and rush orders is available on all items, please ensure that you contact me if this is something you're interested in.

Digital products will be available to you immediately.
