It all began when a lover of lettering decided to share her designs with the world.

Hi everyone! My name is April, and I’m currently a sophomore in college. I started Lettering By April on Etsy in March of 2019. (I know, it would’ve been perfect if I had begun in April, but I couldn’t wait!)

I first discovered lettering in high school. In freshman year, I would doodle in the margins of my school papers, creating “faux-lligraphy” by imitating the bold downstrokes and thin upstrokes of calligraphy with pencil. In sophomore year I got my hands on my first real brush pens, and my lettering hobby took flight from there.

In October of 2016 I created an Instagram (@letteringbyapril) page to share and keep track of my lettering projects and progress. It’s crazy to look back at my earlier posts and see how much I’ve improved!

After a few years of amassing an impressive collection of brush pens and improving my lettering and design as my primary hobby, I decided to open Lettering By April on Etsy to sell my art in a little side hustle!

I am practicing and learning more about lettering, design, and art daily. I hope to keep this Etsy shop up and running through college and beyond. Thank you for your support!
