Liberty Labors of Love
Emily Claire is a native of the Sonoran Desert in Tucson, AZ. She has gratefully spent three years living abroad in Latin America; blessed at the turn of the millennium in Argentina as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student, and then in 2014-2016 traveling and living throughout Mayan country: mostly in Oaxaca, Mexico. These experiences caused radically essential worldview shifts for the life-course she was destined to create.
Again in Arizona, recently returning to relocate her family from Eagle (Boise), Idaho, she has re-engaged with the natural herbary at her fingertips in the surrounding desert. Emily Claire has long turned more towards all types of "natural" alternative healthcare for self-care and career path...shifting from Nursing to Bodywork and studying every nutritional framework or philosophy from ancient through modern times. Fueled with a lifelong passion for an active lifestyle (swimmer, triathlete, runner, yoga student) and truly deep health, she has ignited like a phoenix for this new role in life.
Rekindled love for the wonders of the magically-real natural world led her to create products to share with others as well. Her communion of essential oils with precious gems/minerals is unique & fabulously functional for skincare. Beginning with her special Three Wise Ones (gold, frankincense, myrrh) blend in oil rollers for her friend's Christmas gifts, the inspiration for her business was born.
Donny Caldwell hails from The Gem State, hometown: Boise, ID. Now establishing roots in Tucson with his wife, Emily Claire, and their 3 year old daughter, Liberty; he has delighted in visiting family and the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show here in the low desert over the past 4 years.
Donny is a lifelong artist who began taking art classes at Boise High School which further fueled his life's passion. An avid painter and musician, Donny also began incorporating his interest in gathering stones and found objects from beaches, rivers & trails into his creative artistry. Beginning with wire-wrapping these discovered objects surrounded by found and recycled wire, his interest in copper and silver wire-wrapping began. These early creations of wearable art spurred in Donny an interest to learn even more of the jewelry trade ; lapidary, metallurgy etc.
Here he now shares some of his creations born from many precious stones of that very Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, as well as locally found stones, cut & polished by Donny personally. Raw opal he had the blessing of discovering at a claim outside of Boise, ID. Jasper mostly also gathered raw from Idaho and some in Utah.
Donny works in wire-wrapping various stones in mostly copper and sometimes silver wire. Additionally, some pieces shown here contain his soldered pieces of copper within wire-wrappings. He is making more & more beautiful solid soldered creations! Much of the copper was originally sourced from recycled pipes & wire given/purchased as leftovers from local construction projects etc. Many of the "ordinary" stones were additionally gathered by all three family members, Donny Emily & Liberty; laboring in love while down enjoying the waters of the Boise River, or along the stops of their cross-country relocation road-trip from Idaho to Arizona.
Now for YOUR enjoyment: a one-of-a-kind piece, handmade for you out of our earth's blood: metals, stones, & plants.
From our hearth to yours...
May peace be with you.
~D&E Caldwell~
