Aloha! I am the designer of Junonia by Jillian Maire Designs. Junonia Designs started because of my love for fashion design and my love of Polynesia.
I studied and graduated with a degree in Fashion Design many years ago. When I graduated I sold special occasion dresses to a local boutique and my work was in the Chicago Fashion week fashion show on State St. For a long time I worked on bridal design dresses and veils. I had taken a break from my design career to develop my career in photo styling.
While working and grinding at a 9-5 job, I needed another outlet in my life. That is when I found Tahitian and Hula dance classes. I started my journey with Tahitian and Hula dance over 10 years ago. I've visited Hawai'i multiple times, and learned the art making of weaving the haku lei.
I loved weaving, it soon became my favorite past time when I wasn't dancing hula and Tahitian on my free time. I then decided I would take my passions of dance and fashion design and created this store. It encompasses all things I love the beautiful weaving technique of the Polynesia, tropical flowers, and fashion design.
