Frequently asked questions
Can I supply my own spoons for engraving?
Yes, I am happy to engrave any wooden items except MDF or painted and varnished surfaces. Ordinary spoons, salad servers, chopping boards should be fine.
How well do the wooden spoons last if used?
The engraving is burnt into the spoon so will lasts as long as a normal spoon would, although the engraving may fade a little over time. Wooden items will dry out and split if put in the dishwasher or left to soak so we always recommend that you hand wash them immediately or wipe with a cloth. You may oil them with food grade mineral oil occasionally to keep them looking fresh. The spoons will last as long as normal wooden spoons depending on how you normally treat them. I always give them an oil bath before sending them out so they will last longer.
Can the door hangers be used outside?
We use plywood or solid wood signs which will weather if exposed to harsh sun or rain. However we coat the wood in clear varnish to give it some protection from the elements. The ideal spot for an outdoor hanger is under a porch where it will be sheltered from the elements.
