■ DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Simple is good and less is more.
■ LEANING MEDIA STORAGE
I designed the first sloping metal storage ramps in the 1990s to organize my magazine collections while living in a small apartment. I also used them at work for organizing folders, catalogs and papers on my desk. People asked where I had bought them so I discovered I could sell them. Soon I developed other sizes to accommodate all media formats such as CD, DVD, Video Games, Books and Records
It is one of my favorite personal designs because of its simplicity, using only two bends in metal to create a modern sculpture that defies gravity and serves a purpose. It is a timeless design where form meets function to take good care of all your digital and printed media.
You can now own this authentic piece of minimalist contemporary design offered here by its inventor and original designer.
■ VINYL RECORD STORAGE
I have collected vinyl records for over 30 years and with the revival of vinyl music I designed new Storage Crates and Now Spinning stands using premium materials in a contemporary style that works. These vinyl storage units have a distinctive look that blends wood and sleek anodized aluminum for a warm and inviting yet high-end contemporary feel. The unique design and choice of materials will add a special touch to your home décor.
■ PRINTS
All my art prints are created using software algorithms that build surprising random geometric patterns and color combinations. The prints use the raw digital files without any editing and preserve the details of the original algorithm. (I do not use off-the-shelf graphic software such as Adobe Illustrator to create my art).
Every print was produced using what I call the Digital Art Engine which is my proprietary digital art software running in the cloud. The often quirky shapes and bold color combinations are the result of random computer code that has created a distinctive style of high precision geometric art that will add a modern touch to your work or living spaces.
■ WHY BOLD COLORS?
According to professor Donald Norman "There's something I call the visceral level of processing ... we have co-adapted through biology to like bright colors. That's especially good that mammals and primates like fruits and bright plants, because you eat the fruit and you thereby spread the seed. There's an amazing amount of stuff that's built into the brain."
Rooms painted in grays, whites and neutrals can be transformed into a fun and inspiring oasis by adding a splash of color art from LineColorDesign.
■ THE STUDIO
I live near beautiful Colorado Springs at the foot of the Rocky Mountains with a view of Pikes Peak mountain that has an elevation of 14,115 feet (4300 meters) accessible by car or cog railway. My home studio and workshop are located at 7200 feet (2200 meters) elevation and we get snow from September through May. The massive red granite mountains seen against a big open sky make this an almost mystical place to work and spend time. Colorado Springs is home to the United States Air Force Academy, NORAD, United States Space Command, a University of Colorado campus, Colorado College and the Olympic Training Center. Located just 90 minutes south of Denver International Airport, we receive visitors from around the world who visit Colorado for the great outdoors and winter sports.
