We are a family business striving to bring the modern linen classics to contemporary homes. Passionate about aesthetics, our main idea is to make things that are not only practical, but also beautiful. From Chile to Japan, we aim to make linen an inseparable part of modern homes.
It all started with the reimagining of the fabric. We wanted to keep the Lithuanian linen traditions, but the grey rough linen hardly made contemporary life rituals inspiring. Our formula was to infuse more colours and softness. And it worked.
To show that the new look made home more beautiful, we first opened our living room doors instead of a regular shop. We wanted to show how beautiful linen textiles can be while merging the tradition and history of this fabric with a modern interior, all set up in a 16th century building.
What started as a small open house store quickly became a brand, and now we share the linen beauty internationally.
WHAT WE DO
To our clients, we offer linen bedding, table, kitchen, and bathroom textiles. We also provide linen clothing and various linen products for children. All of our products are handmade using softened linen, whose quality is guaranteed by OEKO-TEX and European Flax certificates.
Linen Tales’ strengths are the uniqueness and diversity of the patterns and colours, which have been curated to transcend seasons. You can mix & match an array of tones from across the collection to reflect your mood.
MANUFACTURING
We aim to create a completely new image for linen with our unique colours and designs. We have
devoted ourselves to provide the highest quality linen: from the precise selection of the finest linen fabrics to sustainable and specialized dyeing, softening, and weaving techniques.
From our very first steps, we’ve poured our hearts into every single item we create, so we‘re constantly striving for perfection. We put love and attention into every stage of manufacturing: from cutting and sewing to ironing and packaging.
We seek to keep the proud traditions of Lithuanian linen deep within our brand identity. Therefore, it’s important for us to support local producers by managing our supply chain and general production here in Lithuania.
SUSTAINABILITY
Our vision of an ethical and sustainable production is at the heart of our business. It means respecting people and the environment in everything we do. We strive to create great products in a kind and
sustainable way. We are committed to extending the product life cycle and to reducing our
environmental impact throughout every segment of our business, including the design process, supply chain, and logistics choices.
- Waste minimization is fundamental to our manufacturing processes. We plan the cutting of our
fabrics carefully so that we have as little leftovers as possible. Afterward, the leftovers are used
to make smaller products or are given away as a material to sewing schools or crafters who
produce handmade linen products. If any products get spoiled during or after manufacturing, we
try to fix them, recycle them into other products, or sell them along with sample products
during our regular office sales. We have recently launched a Zero-waste collection, which
features products made of our production offcuts.
- In order to minimize the CO2 footprint, we prioritize working with partners in Lithuania or
neighboring countries. Therefore all our fabrics are woven and prepared in Europe, which also
ensures the higher quality of materials. Our products are manufactured within 100 km from our
warehouse from which the orders are then shipped to the final customer. We carefully plan our
logistics chain to avoid unnecessary CO2 emission, save time and other resources.
- In April of 2019, we introduced a very important update we have been looking forward to - a
biodegradable product package. In a period of several months, we fully switched from plastic to
biodegradable product bags. The process was gradual in order to use all the previous packaging
and avoid unnecessary waste. Our B2B clients are also offered an option to receive their
products in one waterproof package instead of individually packed products.
Benefits of linen fabric
SUSTAINABILITY. Known as the world’s strongest natural fiber, linen is highly resistant to abrasion and less prone to wear and tear. So you can enjoy your favorite linen pieces for many years without the need to replace them after a couple of washes.
DURABILITY. Linen is one of the strongest, most durable fabrics there is. It’s about three times as strong as cotton and it actually gets stronger when wet. This means that even with daily use, linen is resistant to wearing out. In addition, as it gets softer with each wash, the quality of linen actually increases over time. When properly cared for, linen items can last for decades.
THERMOREGULATIONAL QUALITIES. Because of hollow fibers and loose weaves, air can easily flow through the fabric, meaning linen easily wicks moisture and keeps the body comfortable even in hot temperatures. Loved as a summer fabric, linen not only cools but also provides insulation depending on the temperature, ensuring comfort all year round.
HYPOALLERGENIC PROPERTIES. Gifted with antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties, linen creates a favorable microclimate and is suitable for those with sensitive skin or allergies.
Linen care guide:
MACHINE WASHING
- Linen should be washed at 40°C / 100 °F. If some heavy-duty stains appear, you can increase the temperature up to 60 °C / 140 °F. However, high temperatures shouldn’t be used too often as
fabric tends to shrink.
- Our polyester-filled garments should be washed at a maximum temperature of 40°C / 100 °F.
- Linen should be washed separately from other fabrics and colors.
- If your washing machine allows you to select the water level, choose the highest one offered
because linen is highly absorbent.
HAND WASHING
- Hand-washing is best for thin linen fabrics that could get damaged in the washing machine.
- Hand wash linen clothing using a gentle swishing motion, but never wring, twist or scrub the
cloth.
- Hand washing is best suited for clothing that is not heavily soiled.
STAINS CLEANING
- Stains become more difficult to clean with time. To reach the best result, make sure you clean
the stains as soon as they appear. Read our blog for more tips how to clean almost every stain
from your linen.
DETERGENT
- Choose soft, neutral detergents for delicate fabrics and avoid detergents with bleach (i.e.
chlorine, peroxide).
- Do not pour detergent directly on textiles; rather, add it to the water as the wash tub fills or
dilute detergent with water, then add linens.
- Ensure that all detergent is completely rinsed from the garment before drying.
BLEACHING
- You can bleach only white linen pieces. Do not bleach colored items.
- It is recommended to use oxygen-based bleaching agents.
DRYING
- Linen can be dried in a tumble dryer on a low temperature, hung, or left to dry flat on a white
towel.
- If using a tumble dryer, take the linen out when it’s still damp and complete drying by hanging it
or laying flat.
- If possible, allow white linen pieces to dry out in the sun. It will help to maintain the fresh
whiteness.
- Drying white linen in the sun helps maintain the original white color.
- Overdrying is the most harmful process for fabrics as it weakens the fibers causing shrinkage
and pilling.
- Over-dried items restore their natural moisture content after re-absorbing moisture from the
air.
IRONING
- Iron linen while it’s still slightly damp.
- Use medium or high temperatures and steam. If needed, you can also spray some water on the
fabric.
- Iron on the reverse side.
- Smooth and fold, or press with an iron if desired.
- If you like the natural, slightly crinkled look of linen, you can skip the ironing.
SHRINKAGE
- Our washed linen production is highly resistant for shrinkage compared with non-washed linen.
- Pre-shrunk items typically shrink 3 percent or less.
- Avoid washing or, especially, drying linens on a hot setting, as it is most likely to cause shrinkage.
